Millburn Congregational UCC

On SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, after the 10:00 service, confident cooks from Millburn Church and the surrounding community will be engaged in our first annualchili cookoff to determine who, indeed, has the best recipe.

Everybody will be invited to partake of these culinary offerings, and will vote for their favorite submission. (NOTE:Unabashed campaigning and other forms of gentle persuasion will be encouraged.)

The winning chef will be awarded “bragging rights” until next year’s competition and a unique trophy for their mantlepiece or kitchen counter. (Please pass the Beano!)

The 167th Annual Meeting of Millburn Congregational United Church of Christ is called for SUNDAY, JANUARY 11, 2009, immediately following the 10:00 a.m. Worship Service, to elect officers and to act on other business to come before the meeting.
Nursery care will be provided for this extended period to allow parents to participate in the meeting.
A vote will be called to ask the congregation for approval to allow the Church Board, at their discretion, to use up to $50,000 from the Endowment Fund to cover operating shortfalls that occur in 2008 and 2009.
The ballot will read: “I approve to allow discretionary Church Board use of up to $50,000 from the Endowment Fund to cover operating shortfalls that occur in 2008 and 2009.”
