Summer Worship Begins

The summer morning service schedule from May 24 through September 6 will be one service at 9:00 a.m. with Coffee Hour to follow at 10:00 a.m. Communion will be celebrated on the first Sunday of June, July and August. During the summer, we offer a multi-age Church School after Sharing Time with Pastor Jed for children three years of age through fifth grade.

Millburn UCC Blood Drive

The Mission Committee has partnered with LifeSource/Lake County to hold a blood drive here at Millburn Church on Sunday, May 17. The drive will run from 8:00 am–1:00 pm; donating typically takes less than an hour of
your time, so please try to fit it into your schedule. Every pint of blood donated stays in Lake County and will help three people in need of blood! All healthy individuals over the age of 16 and weighing more than 110 pounds can give. Help the Mission Committee meet our goal of 30 units of blood donated, and show the community how Millburn UCC lives out our faith! Promotion Weekend

Mark your calendars for the 10th Annual Promotion Celebration Picnic to be held Saturday, May 16. The church family picnic begins at 5:00 p.m. with games, Moonwalk, and more. You just need to bring meat to grill and a dish to pass — everything else is provided. You also might want to bring a comfy chair to sit around the campfire. The children will be leading the 10:00 a.m. Promotion Service on May 17 that will be held in the Sanctuary this year.

Spring Into Green!

We’re inviting you to be part of our second annual Spring Into Green event. We’re looking to provide opportunities for everyone to get involved in making our world a better place.

When: Saturday, May 9 (Rain or Shine)

Time: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where: Millburn UCC

Opportunities: Community Garage Sale; Green vendors; recycling collection; promotion of community service organizations; bake sale – by the Millburn UCC bakers; farmers’ market/coop; eco-friendly resosurces/ideas

Cost: Garage sale (parking spaces): 1 space = $25; 2 spaces = $35; vendor space = $35 indoors unless requested to be outside.

Youth Mission Trip 2009

Plans are well underway for Mission Trip 2009 in Chicago. Our dates are confirmed with our commitment money in to DOOR (Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection) our host service organization. We will be in Chicago from June 21-26.

We are now working on our fundraising. Plans are underway for another Parents’ Night Out. Please check out the Youth bulletin board as you enter/leave Church to see our 2009 Mission Trip participants and all things happening as we plan for our next mission trip!

Vacation Bible School: E.D.G.E.

We will be offering Vacation Bible School again this summer with a new theme, E.D.G.E.: Experience + Discover God Everywhere. At Camp E.D.G.E., children join an extreme camp adventure where they will come to know that their strength and might come from God. This year we have chosen the week of July 20-24 with the Closing Celebration on Friday, July 24, from 6:00-7:30. Cost for the week including the Friday night dinner will be $25 per child. Parents and Caregivers who volunteer to help may enroll their children at $10. Use the Registration form in the May issue of The Messenger. If you have any questions, please call the Church Office.

Parents’ Night Out

The Christian Education Committee and Senior High will sponsor another Parents’ Night Out on Saturday, February 28, from 6:00-9:00. Drop off your kids with our junior and high school youth and have an evening alone! Kids ofall ages are welcome! Supper will be served!
