Reverend Jim

I am Rev. Jim Fisher. My journey to ministry has been enriched by wearing many hats—from the interpersonal trenches of airline customer service to surfing turn-of-the-century technological innovation.  I have discovered that ministry is essential wherever people and change intersect.

After earning my Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary in 2014, I served concurrently as pastor of Community Congregational in Elburn, IL and at The Village of Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, IL. During this time I was also active in the Fox Valley Association of the UCC.

I am an avid do-it-yourselfer, finding the challenge of unfamiliar projects to be faith-building, akin to moving mountains.  I also cannot resist feeding the animals—especially a one-legged duck that returns season after season to the back door to patiently wait for an ear of corn.

Coming to ministry later in life, I’ve found the journey of faith is best understood through the prism of our life experiences. The stories in the Bible have something to say to each of us, from our earliest memories to the wisest insights of retirement.  I invite you to share in a sense of wonder and discovery as we follow where the Spirit leads in our worship together.
